Our company is based in Chicago, but our mission is national: we aim to answer the problem of mediocre collegiate wear for as many American colleges and universities as possible.
Vintage Campus brand clothing was founded by two University of Chicago Class of '13 graduates whose goal was to forever change collegiate clothing for the better. Dissatisfied with generic, low-quality, yet expensive items in their campus bookstore, they set out to develop premium fitted sweaters from wool and cotton-cashmere that drew upon the rich history of their own school. While sourcing yarn from Biella, Italy, a province renowned since 1245 A.D. for its woven textiles, the pair was asked to design socks inspired by the old University of Chicago. These socks were used in a staggeringly successful campaign by the University of Chicago's Annual Giving department in February 2013.
After much patience on the part of our supporters, Vintage Campus is pleased to finally offer the University of Chicago community a robust maroon men's sweater in Italian wool, woven in the U.S.A., and a soft, versatile women's cardigan of Italian cotton-cashmere, also woven in the U.S.A. Both sweaters are directly inspired by archival photos of University of Chicago athletes.
